Laura Irwin

With a first-class honours degree from the Royal London Hospital, Masters from City University and professional qualifications from the Institute of Health service Management, Laura developed her foundation Paediatric skills at the Evelina Children’s Unit at Guy’s Hospital London.

The world renowned Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital was where she consolidated these skills and developed a breadth of specialist knowledge and experience. Working alongside many eminently renowned Physicians, Laura was recognized for her excellence in practice specifically in the areas of neurology neurosurgery and neuro developmental paediatrics. As Director of Therapy services between 1994 and 1999, Laura had an extensive clinical, managerial and consultancy workload.

With her knowledge of both the clinical and service provision aspects of Paediatric Health Care Laura worked with a team from Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital providing consultancy skills both nationally and Internationally; Chicago Memorial Children’s Hospital and Packard Children’s Hospital, Stamford Medical Centre, Palo Alto. Clinically she was also involved in outreach services both nationally and internationally; Egypt and The Far East.

In current private practice Laura provides specialist Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapy services. She is one of only a handful of Neurodevelopmental therapists in the UK. As well as providing expert assessment, advice and treatment services, she provides an advisory and educational role to many UK schools. Academically she lectures at the University of Surrey.

Laura is on the Physiotherapy board of The Heath Professions council, the Government body regulating Health Care professionals. In her spare time she has a husband, twin daughters and a son who keep her on her toes.
